The Hard Problem is a category error born of a synchronic worldview. From a diachronic perspective, consciousness is not a "thing" generated by matter, but the fundamental mode of operation of a self-modeling navigator. The "explanatory gap" is simply the difference between a third-person description and the first-person reality of being that system.
